tipoff — FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the things people ask most about tipoff.
What's the difference between Credit and Debit?
Debit (red) is money a customer owes you — tipoff sends reminders to the customer over WhatsApp until it's paid. Credit (green) is money you've already received — its reminders are private notes to yourself, delivered as a notification on your own phone, to confirm or follow up.
How do I mark a transaction as Paid or Settled?
Open the transaction and tap the green checkmark, or use "Mark as Paid" / "Mark as Settled" from the Reminders list. This removes it from your outstanding total and stops its reminders.
How do reminders work?
When you add a transaction, you can set one or more reminder dates — up to 10 per transaction. Debit reminders message the customer on WhatsApp; Credit reminders notify you on your own device. You can also set a reminder to repeat automatically — Daily, Weekly, Biweekly, or Monthly — between now and the due date.
Can I manage multiple business profiles?
Yes. Swipe through your profiles on the Home screen, or add a new one from the profile card. Each profile keeps its own customers, transactions, and totals completely separate.
How do I add a new transaction or customer?
Tap the "+" button on the Home screen or a customer’s page. You can create a brand-new customer right from the same form while adding a transaction — or pick one straight from your phone’s contacts.
What does "Total Balance" show?
The difference between your Credit (money received) and Debit (money owed to you) totals for the selected profile. Once a transaction is marked Paid or Settled, it's excluded from this balance — only what's still outstanding is counted.
How do I search for a customer or profile?
Tap the search icon on the Home page or the Contacts page and start typing a name.
How do I change my language or currency?
Open Edit Profile from the drawer or Profile page, then choose your Preferred Language and Preferred Currency. tipoff supports 56 languages and 36 currencies.
How do I edit or delete a transaction?
Open the transaction from a customer's page and use the edit (pencil) or delete (trash) icon next to it.
What happens if I delete a profile?
Deleting a profile permanently removes it along with every customer and transaction inside it. This can't be undone, so you'll be asked to confirm first.
Is my data secure? How do I delete my account?
Your data is stored under your own account, protected by phone verification and a personal MPIN. You can permanently delete your account and all its data from the drawer or Profile page under "Delete Account" — this is irreversible.
